Allen Bettis is a specialist in family business governance who enables owners, boards and company leaders to create unifying alliances, enthusiasm for learning and cultures for high performance. He is the author of The Family Business Board: Governance for Agility and Growth (2016) published by the National Association of Corporate Directors and has over 20 years’ experience consulting with business families, teaching, speaking and serving on family business boards.
As an advisor and governance structure architect, Allen brings a unique combination of knowledge of corporate governance, family dynamics and skills as a meeting facilitator. He has special expertise in the psychology of achievement in families and earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from Emory University. A Governance Fellow of the NACD and a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute, he speaks and consults internationally and has delivered family business presentations for Northern Trust, the University of Notre Dame, the University of St. Thomas, the Campden Conference for Families in Business, the Caribbean Governance Training Institute and the Family Business Network in Colombia.
Together, Allen and his wife Betsy have five children and live in Minnesota.
