Employment Attorneys from Weintraub Tobin will be available to discuss PAGA and how it can affect your family business.

Join Meagan Bainbridge and Rachel Davey, employment attorneys with Weintraub Tobin, for a members-only OFFICE HOURS event. Both attorney’s are on the front line dealing with these issues everyday. They help businesses across Northern California with PAGA claims and other employment law concerns. This is an opportunity to chat with them and ask any PAGA or EMPLOYMENT related questions you have.

Do you have questions about PAGA in the workplace?

  • Is there anything  in place to protect employers from employees who willfully do not adhere to policies and later have PAGA cases filed against them?
  • Is there a trend in the types of PAGA cases filed against employers?
  • What types of businesses are the most susceptible to claims?
  • Have there been any new trends in PAGA cases since the pandemic?
  • What can employers do to protect themselves?

FBC members are dealing with PAGA claims and recently there was some good news for employers. The Weintraub Tobin Labor and Employment group wrote a blog post about it. The Private Attorneys General Act of 2004 (PAGA) authorizes employees to bring an action for civil penalties on behalf of the state against his or her employer for Labor Code violations committed against the employee (and fellow employees), and PAGA claims have inundated employers. Rachel Davey’s post in the Labor and Employment Law Blog explains that a recent decision from the California Court of Appeal provides that trial courts now have the authority to strike PAGA claims as unmanageable, an important decision for employers.  You can read the post here.

Office Hours is a member-only Family Business Center program that can be listened to on-demand. Sessions are recorded live on Zoom and audio files are only accessible to members through a member-only portal.  The purpose of Office Hours is to provide timely and topical information to our members in an informal format. Therefore, we are offering recorded meetings that will enable our members to listen to content on-demand after each session.

The format begins with our Technical Advisors setting up the discussion on a current issue. We’ll have prepared questions to keep the conversation going, and if members can join the call, we’ll take questions live.
